ABOUT

Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator

Yewon Lee is a composer, arranger, and orchestrator from South Korea, currently based in London and continuing her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Specializing in music for film, animation, and multimedia performance, she brings a distinctive voice to each project by fusing acoustic textures with finely detailed electronic sound design.

Yewon's recent works reflect her growing interest in futuristic and immersive soundscapes. Her compositions often blur the line between melody and texture, leaning into electronic manipulation and acoustic-electronic hybrids to evoke vivid imagery and emotional nuance.

Whether crafting atmospheric scores for film or integrating traditional Korean instruments into modern ensemble settings, she aims to create music that immediately conjures a scene — music that feels visual.

While her foundation in orchestration remains strong — demonstrated through commissioned works for full orchestra and chamber ensembles — 2025 marked a deeper dive into electronic composition. She now weaves her orchestral sensibilities into digital frameworks, building sonic environments that are both emotionally resonant and technically layered. This dual fluency enables her to respond flexibly to diverse storytelling needs across genres and media.

Yewon is particularly drawn to projects that challenge the boundaries of genre, culture, and form. Her approach to sound is both intuitive and investigative: recording, designing, and sculpting audio with precision, always in service of narrative. She continues to collaborate with filmmakers, animators, and performers, driven by a deep commitment to storytelling through sound.
